Carnival’s Princess Cruises Takes Delivery Of Cruise Ship Amid CDC’s Extended No-Sail Order

Carnival’s (CCL) Princess Cruises took delivery of a new cruise ship on Thursday dubbed the Enchanted Princess.

The 145,000-ton ship was handed over in a ceremony at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The Enchanted Princess will carry 3,660 guests onboard, expanding the cruise line’s fleet of MedallionClass vessels, which includes sister ships – Regal Princess, Royal Princess, Majestic Princess, and Sky Princess

The arrival of the Enchanted Princess marks the 100th ship to be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. Princess Takes Delivery Of Fifth Royal-Class Cruise Ship

After months of delay, Princess Cruises took delivery of its brand new Royal-class cruise ship Enchanted Princess on Wednesday afternoon. Enchanted Princess is the 100th cruise ship built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

During a virtual event held at the shipyard, the ship was handed over to the cruise line with executives on hand from Fincantieri Monfalcone Shipyard, Princess Cruises and parent company Carnival Corporation.

Enchanted Princess was originally scheduled to debut in June but was pushed to the fall because of shipyard delays surrounding the ongoing health crisis. In July, the ship successfully completed sea trials off the coast of Italy.

Three Princess Royal-class ships to be based in Europe for 2021

Princess Cruises has announced changes to its 2021 programme, with three Royal-class ships now based in Europe, two of which will be sailing from Southampton.

Enchanted Princess – the cruise line’s newest ship set to join the fleet later this year – will spend May to September sailing a round-trip itinerary from Rome on a series of new seven- and 14-night voyages calling at a variety of Mediterranean destinations including Corfu, Kotor (Montenegro), Marseille and Naples. The ship will then continue to sail between Rome and Barcelona on a series of 11-night Grand Mediterranean voyages.

Sky Princess will spend its first UK season from April to September sailing a round-trip from Southampton on eight- and 12-night British Isles cruises, as well as a series of 12-night Scandinavia and Russia voyages.
