Impact of Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic on Wedding Industry in India

The Indian wedding industry, worth around $50 billion, is among the sectors that has been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. We caught up with wedding photographers Ankita Asthana and Akash Agarwal of WeddinNama to find out how the industry is bouncing back now that restrictions have been lifted.

Here are excerpts from the interview.

How has the pandemic impacted the wedding industry in India?
Ankita: Oh, it’s been like a pause button. Weddings thrive on social gatherings and human interaction and that is exactly what got affected by this pandemic. So it is no surprise that the industry has got severely hit. Not only did the weddings planned this year get postponed but even people who wanted to plan one next year are not able to do so because of uncertainty and risk factors.

Akash: Almost everyone in the over-a-crore people who are involved in the wedding industry are

On a visit to the Canary Islands a few years ago, I got chatting to a tour guide who told me he’d just been approved for a mortgage. I didn’t give it much thought at the time but looking back, I realise how unusual that was.

Jobs in the tourism industry are invariably low paid and seasonal. Canary Islanders are fortunate. The subtropical Spanish archipelago located off the coast of Africa has a climate that draws tourists through-out the year. Well, most years.

When Gov. Greg Abbott relaxed how many people can dine at restaurants and occupy other businesses in El Paso and across Texas, there was a condition: Coronavirus hospitalizations must stay low.

Abbott let restaurants, retail stores, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, gyms, museums and libraries increase their capacity from 50% to 75% on Sept. 21.

On Wednesday, Abbott said other businesses limited to 50% capacity, such as movie theaters and bowling alleys, could expand capacity to 75% on Oct. 14. He also permitted bars in the state to open at up to 50% capacity with county judge approval.

But the order only applies to regions without

Four Tennessee Freshman Who Could Impact Saturday’s Game Against South Carolina

Tennessee just released its first unofficial depth chart of the season. Jeremy Pruitt has stated heading into the opener, “You only get to travel 70 guys, so the 70 that you take need to be able to contribute whether it’s on special teams or on defense. We’ll play 70 guys on Saturday.” Looking at the Vols depth chart, it does not feature many true freshmen, in fact, only Harrison Bailey and Will Albright are the only two to make the cut. However, there are only 53 players listed, which means the Vols have 17 more spots available, and they will likely feature several true freshmen, that should all receive playing time. We take a look at which ones are likely to make an impact on Saturday.
