Transfer news: West Ham and Leeds among teams who could complete deals by Friday | Football | Sport

More than £1billion has already been spent by top-flight clubs this summer. There are, however, still a number of teams in the market for new additions before the domestic window closes. And here are five Championship players who could make the move to a Premier League side before Friday’s deadline.

Said Benrahma (Brentford)

Few shone as brightly as Benrahma in the Championship last term, with the Algerian scoring 17 and assisting nine in 48 appearances for Brentford.

Ultimately, the Bees fell just short of clinching promotion to the Premier League, losing the play-off final to Fulham, but that hasn’t stopped Benrahma from being linked to top flight clubs this summer.

Most recently, West Ham have taken an interest in the 25-year-old, tabling an offer worth an initial £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons for Benrahma.

The deal has, however, run into complications (per the Guardian), meaning this transfer

Football Preview: South Carolina at Vanderbilt

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – Something has to give this weekend as the 0-2 Gamecocks travel to Nashville to battle the winless Vanderbilt Commodores.

South Carolina

Despite putting together some solid drives against two ranked opponents, the Gamecocks still find themselves entering week three without a win. A late mishap against Tennessee, and a second-half collapse against Florida left them with a bad taste in their mouth. But a week three matchup with Vanderbilt brings a lot of optimism with it.

Collin Hill has played well through two games this season, and has engineered scoring drives on each of the team’s opening possessions this season. They’ve come out strong, but have failed to build on the momentum. After scoring on the first drive against Tennessee, the Gamecocks followed that up with five punts and an interception return for a touchdown to close out the half. After their opening drive against Florida,

Premier League at war! ‘Big Six’ power grab sparks major conflict in top-flight and Football League

The Premier League descended into civil war on Sunday following the emergence of secret plans for a radical restructure of the top flight hatched by Liverpool and Manchester United.

On an extraordinary day, the Premier League executive also launched a scathing attack on EFL chairman Rick Parry for supporting Project Big Picture, which would cut the division to 18 clubs, restrict relegation and give the Big Six unfettered power to make further changes.

The Government condemned those involved for indulging in a ‘backroom deal that would create a closed shop at the top of the game’.

South Carolina football: Starter Keir Thomas possibly out

South Carolina’s Keir Thomas and the defensive line at the Aug. 19 football practice.

South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp announced this week that he won’t be discussing injuries anymore this season with the worry it might allow someone to deduce if certain players had COVID-19.

He also did away with the pregame release of a dress or travel roster. On Saturday, one USC starter was not with the team in warmups for the game against Vanderbilt.

Defensive tackle Keir Thomas was missing during those team warmups at Vanderbilt Stadium. A school spokesman said he didn’t make the trip.

Reserve defensive back Jaylin Dickerson also did not make the trip.

Linebacker Jahmar Brown, who has yet to play this season with a knee injury, was also not out with the linebackers warming up.

Thomas started in 2017 and 2018 before an infection from an ankle

A domestic transfer window between Premier League and EFL clubs remains open until October 16 – dubbed Deadline Day Two – but how does it work?

The international deadline – where English clubs could buy, sell and loan players from abroad – closed on October 5, but an agreement between Premier League and EFL teams means players can still be transferred in England.

How will the domestic transfer window work?

Following consultation between the leagues – and because FIFA allows a summer transfer window to run for up to 12 weeks – Premier League clubs can still do business with EFL sides for a further 11 days in a bid to bolster their squads.

They can make loan or permanent signings, as well as selling, but there cannot be transfers between Premier League teams.

All EFL clubs can still do domestic business with any English team up until Deadline Day
