TSA finds gun in man’s bag at Cleveland Hopkins airport security checkpoint

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Transportation Security Administration agents found a handgun and loaded magazine in a man’s bag as he went through a security checkpoint Saturday at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport will be the second airport location for 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen.

Agents detected the 9mm handgun and loaded magazine as the man passed through a security checkpoint about 5 a.m., the TSA said in a news release. They alerted Cleveland police officers, who stepped in to confiscate the gun and magazine.

The news release does not say whether authorities believe the man knew the gun was in his bag. But a TSA spokesman said passengers should check their bags before heading to the airport, because a gun or another prohibited item “can be easily mistaken as an intentional attempt” to bring it onto the plane.
