Chicago Adds Indiana To Coronavirus Travel Quarantine List

CHICAGO — Public health officials Tuesday added Indiana and three other states to the list of coronavirus hotspots on the city’s emergency travel quarantine list.

The travel restriction requirements for folks traveling to and from Indiana, North Carolina, Rhode Island and New Mexico take effect Friday.

Chicago public health commissioner Allison Arwady on Tuesday acknowledged the “obviously” significant addition if Indiana’s addition to the travel quarantine list. She stressed that the mandatory 14-day quarantine applies to anyone traveling between Indiana and Chicago for non-work purposes. Students, regular commuters, essential workers and folks traveling for medical care and parental custody are exempt from the order.

“Indiana has a poorly contained outbreak,” Arwady said Tuesday. She urged Chicagoans to avoid traveling to Indiana and Wisconsin since both states have “poorly contained” coronavirus outbreaks.

The quarantine mandate currently applies to the following locales: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi,

Chicago made it official Tuesday, adding neighboring Indiana to its emergency travel order that requires travelers returning to the city from there to stay inside for two weeks because of high COVID-19 case counts.

The Hoosier state’s inclusion on Chicago’s self-quarantine list was expected.

The city last week “strongly advised” Chicago residents against traveling to Indiana, pointing to the fact the state had already passed the bench mark of more than 15 new daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over a seven-day period that warrants getting added.

“I am very concerned that Indiana is a state that is wishing that COVID were over, and it’s not,” city Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said

New York’s Storied Roosevelt Joins Growing List of Prominent Hotels to Close Their Doors

New York City’s once seemingly indomitable hospitality industry sustained another blow this week when the owners of the historic Roosevelt Hotel, a 96-year-old Midtown institution, announced that the 1,025-room hotel will cease operations on Oct. 31.

Named for President Theodore Roosevelt, the hotel opened in the fall of 1924, and its Italian Renaissance façade of chiseled marble and limestone has been an unchanging fixture of the Manhattan streetscape ever since. In a city filled with sleek new hotel towers, the Roosevelt was a favorite of locals and tourists alike because much of its interior remained unchanged, too. The “Grand Dame of Madison Avenue,” as some have called the hotel, has served as a backdrop for many films including The French Connection, Malcolm X and the 2017 Netflix series Wormwood. Gordon Gekko’s infamous “Greed is good” speech from the 1987 film Wall Street was shot in the Roosevelt’s ballroom.

Holidays: How to book a holiday as quarantine list chops & changes – expert travel advice | Travel News | Travel

Holidays are pretty difficult to organise at the moment with travel restrictions rife and constantly changing. The latest changes to the quarantine list were announced on Thursday – but it was a mixed bag. The good news is that the Greek islands Lesvos, Santorini, Serifos and Zakynthos have now been moved to the travel corridor list.

Anyone travelling back from these four islands and mainland Greece will not have to quarantine any more. Only Mykonos and Crete still come with quarantine requirements.

However the bad news is that entry restrictions for Italy have been ramped up.

A negative COVID test is now required when you arrive in Italy from the UK. You’ll be asked to show evidence that you tested negative in a test administered in the 72 hours before your travel.

In short, going abroad is a complex business. Express.co.uk spoke exclusively to Craig Ashford, Director at TravelUp for
